Cashew & Vanilla Butter-Filled Donuts

A wholesome twist on a bakery classic

Skip the jam and say hello to pure, creamy indulgence. These donuts are filled with our Organic Cashew & Vanilla Butter for a naturally sweet centre that tastes like vanilla custard—but is made entirely from clean, plant-based ingredients. Perfect for weekend baking, special occasions, or a quick hack using shop-bought donuts.


Ingredients (Makes 8–10 donuts)

If making from scratch:

  • 250g plain or gluten-free self-raising flour

  • 50g coconut sugar

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 180ml plant milk

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil (melted)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

Or shortcut version:

  • 8–10 ready-made plain or empty donuts from your favourite bakery or supermarket (look for ones without filling)

For the filling:

  • Sun & Seed Organic Cashew & Vanilla Butter

Optional coating:

  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon


Method

If baking your own:

  1. Make the dough: In a large bowl, mix flour, coconut sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in plant milk, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract until a soft dough forms.

  2. Shape & bake/fry: Roll into small balls for donuts. Bake at 180°C for 12–15 minutes until golden, or shallow fry in coconut oil until lightly browned.

  3. Cool slightly before filling.

If using shop-bought donuts:

  1. Make a small hole in each donut using a skewer or piping nozzle.

  2. Skip straight to the filling step below.

Fill & finish:

  1. Spoon Cashew & Vanilla Butter into a piping bag with a small nozzle.

  2. Pipe into each donut until you feel resistance.

  3. Optionally, roll donuts in cinnamon sugar for extra indulgence.

  4. Serve warm or at room temperature.
